BPC-157 vs TB-500: Differences, Research Status and Blends – Evora research guide

BPC-157 and TB-500 are two of the most searched research peptides, and they are often sold together. They are unrelated molecules with different origins, sizes and research histories. Here is how they compare.

What is BPC-157?

BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide of 15 amino acids (sequence GEPPPGKPADDAGLV) with a molecular weight of about 1,419 Da. Its sequence is taken from a larger protein found in human gastric juice, and the name stands for "body protection compound". Most published research on BPC-157 comes from laboratory and animal studies; good-quality human trials are very limited.

What is TB-500?

TB-500 is a synthetic peptide related to thymosin beta-4, a naturally occurring 43 amino acid protein involved in organising actin inside cells. Depending on the supplier, products sold as TB-500 may be described as the full thymosin beta-4 sequence or as a short fragment of it (often the LKKTETQ region, residues 17–23). This is one reason to read the certificate of analysis carefully: it should state the identity and mass that were actually measured.

Side-by-side comparison

  • Origin: BPC-157 comes from a gastric protein sequence; TB-500 is based on thymosin beta-4.
  • Size: BPC-157 is 15 amino acids; thymosin beta-4 is 43 amino acids (TB-500 fragments are shorter).
  • Evidence: both are mostly preclinical. Neither is a licensed medicine in the UK.
  • Sport: both appear on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) prohibited list, BPC-157 under non-approved substances and thymosin beta-4 derivatives such as TB-500 under peptide hormones and growth factors.

Single vials, blend or bundle?

There are three ways to buy the two peptides for research:

A blend keeps both peptides in one vial; a bundle keeps them separate, which makes it easier to document each compound and batch on its own.

Checking quality

For either peptide, match the batch number on the vial with a published certificate of analysis, check the measured identity and HPLC purity, and store the lyophilised powder at 2–8°C away from light. Our reports are on the COAs page.
